„Kinds of Kindness” erzählt drei unterschiedliche Geschichten: Von einem getriebenen Mann, der versucht, die Kontrolle über sein Leben zu erlangen; von einem beunruhigten Polizisten, dessen auf See vermisste Frau nach ihrer Rückkehr ein anderer Mensch zu sein scheint; und von einer entschlossenen Frau, die jemanden finden muss, der dazu bestimmt ist, ein großer spiritueller Führer zu werden. „Kinds of Kindness” ist der vierte Film von Yorgos Lanthimos und Drehbuchautor Efthimis Filippou, der bei den renommierten Filmfestspielen von Cannes läuft. Im Jahr 2009 erregte Lanthimos bei den 62. Filmfestspielen von Cannes mit „Dogtooth“ erstmals internationale Aufmerksamkeit und gewann den Preis der Sektion Un Certain Regard. Im Jahr 2015 folgte sein erster englischsprachiger Film „The Lobster“. Der Film wurde mit dem Preis der Jury ausgezeichnet. Zuletzt war Lanthimos 2017 in Cannes, wo er „The Killing Of A Sacred Deer“ vorstellte, der den Preis für das beste Drehbuch erhielt.
